June 12, 2010 – Remains

June 12, 2010

Today’s photojournalism entry (not that all entries are photojournalism): The remains of our neighbors.  This is all that remains of our next door neighbor.  I don’t know what happened but the house seems empty and this pile is all that remains.  The only real conclusion that we can surmise is that they were evicted.  All week, the place was quiet and deserted.  Then this pile appeared on the lawn – is suppose it is what was not taken.

I watched this pile today.  It is amazing what bargain hunters are after.  To me, everything was trash and junky.  Yet people stop to gather hidden treasures.  One car, already laden down with an artificial tree in the trunk and air duct pipes strapped to the roof, stopped and the drive and his wife went as far as tearing the bed mattress open and driving away with the bare metal springs.

This is the legacy our neighbors have left during there relatively brief chapter in our corner of the city.
